The Deepwater Plaza refurbishment is a design and construct project involving the reconfiguration of the existing northwestern supermarket tenancy as well as the upgrade of the shopping centre’s façade and creation of new North Western Entry.

Internal works comprised demolition of the supermarket tenancy including the existing plantroom and stripout of services to return it to its base building configuration.

The refurbishment involved construction of new intertenancy walls and a major upgrade of services.

The George Street façade was the focus of external works and involved the removal of existing precast concrete panels and concrete slabs for the construction of a new entrance, which featured extensive glazing, a new awning and signage.

The project also involved the installation of a new internal lift as well as stairs and ramps. The existing loading dock was demolished and civil and stormwater works were undertaken. To keep disruption to existing tenancies to a minimum all noisy and disruptive works were undertaken outside normal trading hours.

Working closely with all stakeholders, Next ensured ongoing operations of the shopping centre were maintained throughout construction with the safety of tenants and customers the priority for the Next team.
