Following from the successful delivery of the fitout of the H&M Wollongong store, Next was awarded the contract to design and construct the fitout for the H&M store in the Macarthur Square Shopping Centre.

Next was able to fast track the construction program for the Macarthur Square store utilising its recent experience and understanding of H&M’s guideline requirements gained from completing the Wollongong fitout.

The tenancy spans 3900 square metres over two levels and includes the retail space, a store room, staff amenities, breakout room and administrative offices.

The scope of works for the fitout provides for a contemporary and functional retail space and comprises high quality fixtures and finishes, which include extensive floor tiling, energy efficient glazed facades and detailed joinery for accessories cabinets, point of sale counters and merchandise tables. Track lighting systems together with recessed lighting fixtures in the ceiling and mirrored columns throughout the floor spaces also have been incorporated in the fitout.

Next also managed and coordinated the installation of escalators in the centre of the store between the two levels of the store as well as the coordination with base building of all services including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire, hydraulics, communication and security.

A major challenge of the project was completing the fitout within the live environment of the shopping centre, which was also undergoing extensive redevelopment. Next is highly experienced in operating in live environments and the project team has formed a collaborative relationship with centre management to plan and implement construction tasks to ensure the project progresses seamlessly.
