Next successfully delivered ten days ahead of schedule the high-end environmentally sustainable fitout for 12-Micron, the latest addition to the dining scene at Barangaroo.

12-Micron, which is located in Tower 1 at Barangaroo was constructed to the precinct’s 6 Star Green Star sustainability strategy. The fitout was challenging as it was undertaken within a live environment with ongoing works to the tower building and its surrounds.

Next was presented with the shell of the 1200 metres square restaurant and the project scope of works included installation of a state-of-the art commercial kitchen as well as a commercial dessert / pastry kitchen, cool rooms and integrated wine cellars, a bar and controlled lighting system.

The project involved major services coordination and management. The kitchens required large duct work for the exhaust canopy. All services were mostly set flush within the ceilings with some electrical services run in the floor to accommodate the free standing joinery.

High-end finishes and fixtures were used throughout including detailed natural spotted gum timber and curved veneer joinery, loosely laid cobble stones for the flooring and skirting and custom artisan wall finishes.

The amenities also received the luxury experience with stand-alone stone vanities; wall to floor tiling utilising intricate Italian tiles; and custom-made doors finished with veneered spotted gum parquetry.

Other stand out features of the fitout included floor to ceiling windows and a combination of curved vault and hung fabric ceilings.
