Next achieved practical completion for fitout of the Zara Group’s flagship retail store two weeks ahead of schedule. This enabled the store to open for the valuable trading period across the Easter weekend.

To facilitate the delivery of this high quality and detailed fitout Next worked closely with the client and architect to ensure the design intent was realised and the new store handed over defect free. Next implemented innovative solutions to expedite the fitout including employing a Site Supervisor fluent in Spanish to liaise with suppliers of the display joinery, which was manufactured in Spain. In addition, industrial warehouse space was leased to enable the joinery to be checked for quality, measured and assembled prior to delivery to site. This ensured all components matched the exacting requirements of the fitout design.

Next’s team of specialist trades people worked around the clock to complete the integrated fitout of 3000 square metres over three levels. The scope of works included the installation of a new façade on the Pitt Street Mall outlook as well as new shop fronts on the three levels linking the store to Westfield shopping centre, an architectural stair, lift structure and new services.

The fitout project was made more challenging and complex as Westfield was simultaneously undertaking a major refurbishment of the landmark Centrepoint shopping precinct. Next undertook base building works for Westfield and worked in collaboration with Westfield contractors to ensure all materials handling was undertaken seamlessly.
