The fitout of the first Australian retail outlet for international fashion brand, Suitsupply, was complex and highly detailed.

The scope of works included installation of new walls, ceiling, flooring, joinery and mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services all undertaken within the heritage envelope of the historically significant Commonwealth Bank Building in Martin Place.

Protecting the heritage fabric of the building, which included the marble tiled floor, light fittings, decorative plaster, metal detailing and ornamental leadlight glass, was of the utmost importance for Next.

Next worked closely with Suitsupply and the architect to deliver the high quality and detailed fitout following the brand’s worldwide design for its stores.

Finishes included a range imported and locally sourced materials including European wallpapers, Dutch timber parquetry, track lighting and mirror niches. As no mechanical penetrations were allowed through the marble flooring a structural steel frame was designed to which the parquetry floor was fixed.

The project team coordinated the delivery and installation of the imported joinery used throughout the store. The joinery components were installed by specialist millworkers from the Netherlands employed by Suitsupply.
