Next has commenced the design and construction of a new 100 bed Residential Aged Care facility (RACF) at the Uniting Edinglassie site in Emu Plains.
The Uniting Edinglassie village currently accommodates a nursing home, hostel, independent living units and a Fellowship Centre.
“Completing works within an operational aged care environment is always challenging and requires a team with exceptional planning and communication skills to ensure a positive outcome is achieved for the community,” said Joseph Di Girolamo, CEO.
“Our highly experienced project team will keep everyone well informed of processes and planned activities on site. Our priority is to coordinate the works to ensure the operational part of the village is fully maintained and residents and staff are kept safe during the construction works.”
The existing nursing home and an initial section of the hostel as well as the Fellowship Centre will be demolished to make way for the construction of a new 100 bed RACF facility over three levels.
Levels 1 and 2 will include 40 beds on each floor with the ground floor accommodating 20 beds as well as a new community/fellowship space, chapel, small café and administrative area.
The project scope includes associated services and infrastructure works with external works including construction of retaining walls, pathways, extensive landscaping and the construction of a new carpark.
The project is scheduled for completion in early 2020.
