Next Constructions was privileged to actively participate in the Emergency Shelter Exhibition held recently at Customs House, Sydney to raise funds for emergency relief.
Nine emergency shelters were exhibited and Next Constructions built several shelters designed by acclaimed architect, Koichi Takada.
The exhibition was created by a number of Australian and international architects in response to Japan’s 2011 earthquake and tsunami. They wanted to highlight the need for simple emergency shelters, which could be used in disaster zones.
The architects also wanted to emphasise the role the design and construction industry could play in the aftermath of a natural disaster. The shelters proposed would not only protect people from the elements but also provide a safe and comfortable space fundamental to the recovery process.
